The 7th Pneumobil Race was held during the third weekend of May, representing teams from 43 universities from six countries. Autopro.hu also paid a visit to the spectacular – and from an industrial point of view, indeed very useful – competition.

The 2014 race offered a lot wider range of innovations than the races held in previous years. The event has also gone through a name change: since the previous race, the organizing company's name has changed as the pneumatics business of Bosch Rexroth broke off from the parent and established a new company under the Aventics name.

Winners were announced in several categories this year. At the endurance race, the competitors had to cover the longest distance with one compressed gas cylinder. The winner in this category was Team Főnix from the University of Debrecen, covering 7,776 metres.

The dismal weather in the afternoon did not stop the teams from racing, and at the acceleration race a new record was set by Team Kakukktojás from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics: the team's car did the 220m course in 23.53 seconds. The slalom race was also won by Kakukktojás, no wonder the team also received the award for the best car at this year's event, the prize for the Best Pneumobil at Aventics.

Below you can find a gallery of 150, showing how these young engineers competed with each other, the clock and the cars. Some of the most notable persons taking part in the event were WTCC driver Norbert Mihelisz, István Klinghammer, Secretary of State responsible for education, and Javier Gonzáles Pareja, CEO of Bosch Hungary.
