Winterkorn has now given his sixth lecture at the university. This year, the professor provided insight into the diverse world of materials used in the automotive industry.

For Audi Hungaria, collaborating with the major Hungarian universities, such as BME, the Széchenyi István University in Győr and the Miskolc University is crucial, as these institutions have a key role in providing workforce supply. Besides, the company organises several events and lectures with the participation of researchers and leaders of the VW Group.

Professor Winterkorn has been an honorary professor of BME for 6 years.

One of the characteristic features of the projects of Audi Hungaria and BME is thematic diversity: engine analyses, computer simulations and the application and development of new analysis methods.

Thanks to the factory expansion, Audi Hungaria provides workplaces along with development opportunities for undergraduate students. Besides, the company employs 350 trainees every year. The success of the collaboration is represented by the fact that Audi Hungaria has been chosen as the “Most Attractive Company in Hungary” by university and college students for the third time in 2011.

Since 1 January 2007, he has been the president of Volkswagen AG’s board of directors and the president of Audi AG’s supervisory board. Professor Winterkorn has been an honorary professor of BME since 2003.
