The week of Hungary’s most important national holiday was spent by many on vacation, yet the automotive industry kept rolling. Let´s recap what week 33 brought in Hungary´s auto sector.

The Hungarian government has recently finalized its National Bus Manufacturing Strategy.

In line with this initiative, the Kravtex-Kühne Group was reported last week to develop three new models to replace outdated buses in the country.

Last week, ITK Holding Zrt. And EvoBus Hungária Kft. signed a declaration of intent on the manufacturing of buses, where the Daimler AG’s subsidiary will supply the undercarriage and ITK will design the vehicle’s superstructure.

Petri Tuomi-Nikula, Finland’s ambassador in Hungary, said Finnish companies are constantly striving to find opportunities to enter the Hungarian market or to relocate production to the country.

Skills shortage is becoming a more and more significant issue in the automotive industry. According to industry players, the country has more or less run out of qualified labour force.

German and Italian teams excelled at FSH 2016

Investments continue to arrive nevertheless, even though there are manufacturers and suppliers where unfilled positions are in the hundreds. It’s not a question any more: recruiting needs new solutions.

The Hungarian Trade Union Federation announced last week to launch a new nationwide campaign to eliminate the wage gap between men and women workers. The federation is already preparing for the autumn wage talks.

TechTogether

Formula Student Hungary 2016, a four-day competition for single-seater racing cars built by university teams from all over the world, kicked off last Thursday. This year, four Hungarian teams took part in the event.

FS-series creator Pat Clarke visits Hungarian race

Pat Clarke, the Australian creator of the event series, also paid a visit. In an interview he told us about adrenaline, team work and why the FSH series can be more exciting than working for one of the top F1 teams.

Last week: a new electric charger was handed over in Budapest. Csaba Mészáros, chairman and CEO of the evopro group, said the fast charger is capable of fully charging a car in 15–20 minutes.

As a result of a unique Hungarian collaboration, ten local SMEs and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics took part in the development of the charger.
